In 1896 Mrs. Quimby built a boarding house on the corner of Dearborn Street and Old Englewood Road. It was owned in the early 1900s by the Jergens family. Then, for many years, it was Rinkards Guest House.

A fire started in the attic the evening of 10/16/2011. Firefighters were called, but in spite of heroic efforts, much of the roof and portions of the top story were destroyed.

The house is privately owned and at this time estimates to repair the damage exceed the assessed value of this historic homel

As of this writing (10/20/2011) it is unsure what will become o the house, but it appears as though a historic Englewood landmark has been lost to our community.
